Ayutthaya Destinations

AYUTTHAYA was the former capital of Siam Kingdom from 14th to 18th Century (1350 - 1767). It was listed as World's Heritage Site in 1991 by UNESCO. 

The Capital was ruled  under 7 different dynasties and 33 kings ( 1350- 1767), but in 1767, the Kingdom was invaded and destroyed by Burmese Army, later the King Taksin of Siamese got independence, he decicded to move the capital to Bangkok Site, on the river bank of Chao Phraya River.

Protected Area: it covers an area of 2,550 sqm2:  The Ayutthaya Historical Park covers the ruins of the old city of Ayutthaya, Thailand.

Religions: The main religion in Ayutthaya is Buddhism, However, many of the elements of the political and social system were incorporated from Hindu scriptures and were conducted by Brahmin priests

The residents today are living in the city, outside of Ancient Ayutthaya, The city is located at the junction of the Chao Phraya, Lopburi and Pa Sak rivers

Distance: It is 80Km from Bangkok to Ayutthaya City ( 1,5 hours by bus)
