Can Tho City is the fourth-largest city in Vietnam, and the largest city in the Mekong Delta.
It is noted for its floating market, rice paper-making village, and picturesque rural canals.It had a population of 1.7 million as of 2015, and is located on the south bank of the Hau River, a distributary of the Mekong river

Can Tho is famous for its floating markets, where people sell and buy things on the river, as well as the bird gardens and the port of Ninh Kiều. The city offers a wide range of tropical fruits such as pomelo, longan, jackfruit, mango and durian. The Can Tho City Museum has exhibits on the city's history.
What to see in Can Tho City?
- Floating market boat tours: The Cai Rang Floating Market, the largest wholesale floating market in the Mekong Delta, starts around 05:00 and runs until around midday, meaning that you’ll have to get an early start to the day if you want to visit. Most tour boats along the riverfront leave between 05:00 and 07:00, so if don’t make it to the water by then you’ll have a hard time finding a tour. The market is about six kilometres from Can Tho, or about a 30-minute boat ride.
- Can Tho Night Market: If you are into street food, Phan Chu Trinh is the goods. Wrapping around the street are a bevy of street vendors that would put an LA food truck gathering to shame.
